In the last installment, we began an examination of the roles that the one symbolized by the sun and the goat, that is the Michael/ Elijah figure appears to be in God’s plan. I examined the third seal and gave one of the roles that he seems to fill, the offer of forgiveness to those who came before the time of Christ (see the last installment for more detail on that). I also indicated that he seems to be filling more than one role as the barley was three times that of the wheat, the church from the parable of the wheat and the tares for the same wages, eternal life, from the parable of the workers in the vineyard.
That conclusion would parallel the three versions of the goat in the law: the young goat, one male goat as a sin offering (Numbers 7, when consecrating the tabernacle) and the scapegoat on the Day of Atonement (Leviticus 16). The seals and their progression is the life of this person and the events that take place during his life. So let’s do a quick recap of those seals.
The first seal is the angel Michael becoming a man with one of the things he has to overcome is his own blindness, not knowing who he is, symbolized by Samsons blindness in his weakness and Gideon not realizing he is a mighty warrior. The young goat and the angel of the LORD are in both stories.
The second seal represent the era of the Covid vaccine, an attack on humanity, the physical representation of the large sword (typically a metallic instrument which kills or maims by piercing the flesh) with the spiritual meaning being that Michael, or at this stage Elijah, learns how to use the word of God, the sword of the Spirit, in a mighty way.
We discussed the third seal in last writing (though we haven’t yet examined the other roles indicated, yet). This brings us to the fourth seal where death is on the run to wipe out a quarter of the earth’s population by the means stated during his lifetime.
The fifth seal is unusual as the entirety of it seems to take place in heaven, away from any type of earthly confirmation. That is until you get to the sixth seal. The sixth seal is the end of Elijah’s earthly life, marking the end of the fourth seal, the reduction of earths population by one fourth. The sign accompanying it would be the sun going dark for a period of time. This is how we will know that the trumpets will begin to blow and the ministry of the two witnesses are about to begin.
So what would the effect of his first death (remember we started this series by finding a prophet who dies twice in the Old Testament, symbolically. Well, if he’s a Bible scholar, it would be safe to assume that he is Christian. By holding firm to that faith, and being the angel/human hybrid that he is, perhaps this is a clue as to what another of his purposes might be , the offer of forgiveness to the fallen angels. This could be why the abyss is opened later in Revelation 9 by the “star that fell from heaven”.
Then this figure rises from the dead, the angel that was given the seal of God coming from “the place of the rising sun” (Revelation 7:2). This would be the “sun of righteousness (that) will rise with healing in it’s wings” for those who revere His name (Malachi 4:2). I’ll wrap up this series over the next few writings and will examine what Michael is doing right after his death and begin to examine the meaning and effect of the trumpets in the next installment.
