Broad meadows

Four people were traveling down a road when they suddenly came to a tee in the road. It was a one way going north, but they wanted to go south. There were two women in the front seat and two men in the back. In spite of the sign to turn north, they went south.

Soon after they made the turn, someone flagged them down and told them that the road in that direction ended in a cliff and many had died there. The people in the car scoffed and drove on. Other people tried to wave them down to no avail. Still others cursed at them as they drove by. There was a well dressed man sitting by the side of the road and behind him was a map of the area, but all he said was, “God bless. Have a great day!”

As they traveled further down that way the calls around them grew more intense. Some people were even trying to get in front of the car to try to stop them. Irritated by all this, the people in the car called their lawyer.

When the lawyer appeared before the judge, the opposing council said, “Your honor, that road is a one way for a reason. That road in that direction ends in a cliff and many have died there as a result.”

The judge replied, “This case isn’t about geography, but about equal access to that road.” The judge even ordered that the road be widened to accommodate to those who wish to go in that direction.

As darkness fell, the road ended suddenly and the people in the car went over the cliff. As they fell, all they could see was the burning wreckage of those who went before. They we’re filled with regret, but it was too late.

Which of the people in the story loved the people in the car more? If you were in danger would you rather know or not know?

Sexual activity, like all of the things people do, is a behavior. Among those who practice same sex relationships, there is the idea that they were born this way and they can’t help it. If this concept is accepted, then any behavior can be justified. This is why societies fall upon widespread acceptance.

On the other hand, the transgender community is most certainly born a certain way, but they don’t accept it. It’s hard to understand how one can achieve happiness fighting and damaging one’s own body, rendering it less functional.

It should be noted by those communities that all Christians are doing in opposing these ideas is because there is a high price to be paid for accepting and practicing such behaviors. It will always be up to the individual to decide how they want to proceed, but don’t think for a minute that the lawyers, judges and even those in the Christian community who tell you that they accept this from you care anything about you. Many Christians have had to put up with unwarranted ridicule and legal persecution to warn you of the consequences of such a lifestyle and we will continue to do so. Is it because we don’t love you? God knows that we do or we wouldn’t offer warning in the face of such threats.

Forgiveness is found in Jesus. He is the way back.
